Provisional Room was a sketch for a work that addressed my preoccupation with the need for a permanent and consistent site of refuge for thinking. The project followed from my experience of a devastating house fire. I was interested in what might be the minimal structure required in order to contain or sustain the sense of place and personal history that comes from a domesticated space such as a studio or home. The work proposes that personal space absorbs its inhabitant and returns to her a reminder of herself through a triangulation of visible and sensory information with duration. provisional room, 2006
