Foldable Scores for Thinking extrapolates on the concept of the performance document (a theme that I explored in Lonely Inventory and Small Entitlements). For each book in this series of five, a compositional model has been prescribed. As the volume of drawings accumulate, shifts and adjustments made in accomplishing the task alter the form over time. Here duration brings fluctuations in the number, scale and stability of the prescribed marks and the overall shape of the composition on the page. Bound together in a book, the drawings perform sequentially: 87 departures in rhythmic counterpoint to the initial compositional idea. These are alternate units of measurement - a means of measuring duration. The work continues, from 5 books it has grown to 35 currently in process.
