This was an exercise in working with the materials of sync and performance. The work preceded the ubiquity of the online confessional video-blog and video mashup by a little over 2 years. With these forms emerging as a standard tropes on sites like youtube, I was at a loss about this work. I was no longer able to understand the work as functionning in the way that I had originally intended. 2005 Exploring the directionality of performance and the specificity of the audience as muse, I was working within the confines of an earnestness of content while at the same time seeking an escape route from the words themselves. Although still unresolved, the result was something that I was pleased with. I continue to work with the overdubbing of my own voice. untitled (confession), 2005 [excerpt]
